About Ryan Horn
Ryan Horn was born in New York on August 25, 1980. He excelled academically and
graduated in the top of his class at Pierson High School, where he participated
in numerous extracurricular activities, including serving as class president.
Ryan entered Cornell University as a freshman in August 1998. He was involved in
a number of student groups including Model Congress, the Student Assembly (SA),
and the Cornell Literary Society. He graduated with Distinction in May 2002 with
a Bachelor of Arts in Government and a concentration in Law and Society.
After graduation, Ryan decided to stay at Cornell to pursue a master’s degree in
public administration, which he completed in May 2004. Ryan was a
teaching-assistant for Professor Jeremy Rabkin (Government) and has authored
articles on international law, tax policy, and education reform. He was also a
writer-editor for The Current, Cornell’s public policy journal.
During his graduate career, Ryan continued to be one of the premier conservative
activists in young America. He was a staff writer for The Cornell Review for
four years and was later the editor-in chief of The Cornell American—the
campus’s dominant conservative newspaper. He was also the chairman of the
Cornell College Republicans, building the largest conservative youth
organization in the Northeast. His tenure at that post lasted from 2000-2003,
making him the longest serving leader in the group’s history.
Subsequently, he was elected chairman of the Ithaca City Republican Committee
for the Fourth Ward. In November 2003, he was the party’s candidate for Common
Council, winning a larger share of the vote than any Republican in over a
decade.
Ryan now lives in the exclusive Hamptons area of Long Island and works as a
freelance writer. Over the years his work has appeared in Frontpage
Magazine, The American Conservative, FoxNews.com, and The Wall Street Journal.
