Dear Friend,

I guarantee you that after visiting my site you will think differently about something—or me. Conservatives will be pleased and return often. Leftists will likely leave angry, and return even more. A few of you “undecideds” will side with the former when you finish reading.

I would especially like to thank the many young conservatives that have been visiting. While all are welcome at RyanHorn.com, you are ones who will benefit the most. Today is an exciting time to be a conservative, particularly on a college campus. And, chances are, the more prestigious your university, the more you need to read on.

Sometimes I have flirted with the idea that conservatives like us are anachronisms. Not that I believe our philosophy is outdated, but simply how much better it would have been to personally hear Barry Goldwater thunder, “Let’s grow up, conservatives ... we can take this party back!”

Think about how you would have reacted in the 1960s when a hippie screamed the Vietnam War was not a noble cause, but a “dirty, immoral war.” Had Rush Limbaugh or Fox News Channel around in 1973, Nixon would have finished the term the people of 49 states had given him.

And most of all, think of how you would have felt on January 20, 1981, staring into Ronald Reagan’s solemn eyes as he took the oath of office for the presidency of the United States.

That great and good man, whom history shall remember as the century’s greatest president, once said that “America’s best days lie ahead.” He made that saying part of his re-election campaign because he knew that America could only fulfill her destiny if Americans were committed to making it happen.

He was talking about us.

Fellow conservatives, I have also come to believe this about our movement; and because of readers like you, I, like President Reagan, am “looking to the future with confidence and pride.” As for the left-wingers, “you ain’t seen nothing yet.”

Best wishes and God bless,
